Cutting it Close
As the last few grains of sand were dropping in the hourglass, the announcement came that Kreider would indeed be playing some of his prime years for the Rangers. Jeff Gorton avoided the arbitration hearing and the 1 year reward that would have likely spelled the end of CK20’s career in Blue next summer.
The Rangers best power forward is in the fold and the Blueshirts still have over 6M in cap space to re-sign Kevin Hayes.
With Kreider at 4 yrs @ $4.625M per @NHL_AaronWard, #NYR have est. $6.025M in cap space with roster of 12F/8D/2G.https://t.co/dM38Zuxr87

Remember the Blueshirts can go 10% over the cap before the season starts and then they need to make the appropriate moves to get under it before October. In essence, if they sign Hayes for about 2M, they would have at least 4M in space to improve other areas.
If we are all logical, no would assume that the Rangers are going to start this season with 4M in cap space just because they want to be fiscally responsible. At least one trade is coming.
UPDATE: Per Aaron Ward, last 2 years have a limited no-trade.
Chris Kreider contract with #NYR has 11 team no trade in last two years. Paid $5M,$5M,$4.5M,$4M.
