Rangers Roundup: Patrick Kane a perfect fit, Chris Kreider out vs Columbus, and more
You can add another top hockey insider looking at Patrick Kane and the New York Rangers as a perfect fit.
Pierre LeBrun who covers the game for TSN and writes for The Athletic took a look at perfect trade fits in his most recent article. When it comes to Kane on Broadway, a reunion with Artemi Panarin seems to make too much sense. Plus the the Blueshirts should have the cap space and assets to pull it off.
With a full no-move clause, Kane controls not only if he actually wants to be dealt but also where he’ll end up. And as far as currency, the Rangers have a pair of first-round picks in this year’s draft — their own plus the Stars’. Maybe they make the first-round pick conditional, with Chicago getting the higher of the two?

Patrick Kane a perfect Rangers fit
Kane, 34, has a cap hit of $10.5M and would require the Chicago Blackhawks to retain 50% for almost any contender to make a deal for him. The Rangers are at an advantage here because some other teams may need to involve a third party to facilitate a trade.
The Hawks superstar just returned from a three game absence with a lower-body issue and registered a goal in his first match back on Saturday. He has 29 points in 38 games this season.
Kane recently sat down with NBC Sports Charlie Roumeliotis for an interview and addressed the trade deadline.
“It’s a different year obviously, going into the last year of your contract and different variables about what’s going to happen or where you’re going to be the rest of your career, different things like that,” Kane said. “You think about that stuff, especially when it gets into January here and got a couple months to the trade deadline. We’ll see how it all shakes out.”

Chris Kreider remains out
The New York Rangers will take on the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight and they’ll do so without Chris Kreider. He miss his third straight game with an upper-body injury.
Kreider, 31, was hurt in the third period of the Rangers’ 4-3 shootout win over the Minnesota Wild on a hit by Marcus Foligno. He has 19 goals on the season and 30 points in 42 games to date.
Rangers honor Martin Luther King Jr
The New York Rangers posted a message in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day that reads:
“In honor of #MLKDay2023, we pay respect to the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.”
