Fast Times Ahead? Rangers Recall Jesper Fast

Rangers prospect; Jesper Fast

In light of Chris Kreider missing time with an undisclosed hand injury, and Dan Carillo and Dom Moore not fitting into the top nine, Jesper Fast once again has earned his way back to the New York Rangers.

Down in Hartford, Fast has impressed. Despite missing 23 games due to injury, Fast has produced 17 goals and 17 assists for 34 points. He is tied for second on the team in plus/minus with a +14 and currently leads the team in Power Play goals with 8. Fast has played on the top line since his return to Hartford, as well as on the top Power Play unit and gets time on the Penalty Kill.

When Fast is playing his game, you will see a great skater with good speed and acceleration. He uses that speed to get in on the forecheck to create chaos and offensive chances.  Fast has good hockey sense, as you can see him anticipating plays on the ice instead of reacting to them. While Fast isn’t a physical player, he is very strong on the puck and has no problems going into the dirty areas to win battles. Although, the most outstanding aspect of his game has been his offense.

Full Tilt Forecast: Playing on a line with Carl Hagelin will no doubt be fun to watch. You can expect a lot of “Dump & Chase” to allow Hags and Fast to get in deep and create chances. Their speed and relentless forechecking will cause chaos in the opposition’s defensive zone. Look for them to create some chances off of break outs in the transition game as well. All told, you will be pleasantly surprised by Fast.
