Cap released, and it’s disappointing
No trades for the Rangers…doesn’t mean there won’t be
While they opted to not make any moves today, it doesn’t mean the Blueshirts will stand pat. NY has 4 RFA’s to sign and now only a little over $17M to do so.
Hypothetically let’s give Trouba 8, Buchnevich 3.5, DeAngelo 3, and Lemieux 2 you can see how quickly the money dries up. So unless, they can shed the salaries of Kreider ($4.6M), Namestnikov ($4M), Vesey ($2.275), and either buyout Smith (cap savings of $3M) and/or trade Shattenkirk with a 50% retain ($3.325) they won’t have what it takes to sign Panarin or any top UFA for that matter.
Next week will be very interesting.
UFA window opens tomorrow, Panarin heading to FL
