Rangers Roundup: Fast up, Kravtsov and November 1st
Latest updates and buzz around the New York Rangers.
Fast Promotion about hard work and balance
Jesper Fast who is a model citizen for David Quinn’s Rangers is on the top line. He earned it by being one of the few Rangers who played a full game against the Canucks and leads by example on the ice.
When it comes to back checking and loose puck battles, Fast is the example Quinn points to for others to learn. Because of that, he will play with Panarin and Zibanejad against the Coyotes tonight.
It also puts at least one offensive player on the top three lines. Kakko will be featured on the 2nd, while Buchnevich will try and be the weapon on the 3rd. Another note, McKegg should replace Haley in the lineup. Let’s see how long this set of lines lasts.
Kravtsov and November 1st
The struggles continue for Vitali Kravtsov in Hartford with rumors of frustration emanating out of Russia with coach Kris Knoblauch. The video with Igor Eronko who tweeted that Kravtsov is considering a return to the KHL is below (starts at 24:52 mark). This should be taken with a huge grain of salt. Still, the rumors persist that Kravtsov is considering the move.
In this article it was reported that a reunion with Traktor Chelyabinsk seems unlikely in the event of an assignment to the KHL. There have been reports that other KHL teams are interested in trading for his rights and that may include Igor Shesterkin’s old team SKA.
We’ve mentioned it before, but I can confirm that European out clause in these contracts is usually set to November 1st. Igor Eronko told me that it’s also possible the negotiated date could be different. I have also asked Igor if there is any update coming, will post/add as soon as he responds.
Buckle up folks, could be an interesting few weeks in Hartford.
