Chytil ruled out for Blue Jackets

“[Chytil] won’t play today,” Gerard Gallant opened his pregame press conference, leaving the door open for him to play tomorrow against the Devils.

The 22 year-old pivot has been out since the lost to the Flames last week. He collided with linemate Sammy Blais and has been listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury since.

He has just three points in 12 games on the season.

No goalie announced, but playing back-to-back in an option

When Gallant was asked about which goalie will start, he was as coy as usual. “Yeah, one of the two,” he said with a smirk.

What was interesting in his remarks centered around the fact he hadn’t decided if he would split these two games between Shesterkin and Georgiev.

“Me and Benny (Benoit Allaire) talked about it yesterday,” he revealed. “We’re just going to take it one at a time right now.”

One thing is for certain, if any goalie would play back-to-back it would be the red-hot Igor Shesterkin.

The 25 year-old Shesterkin is 6-2-2 on the season with an incredible .931 SV% and a 2.37 GAA.
