Tony DeAngelo’s Contract
Today I wrote about Tony DeAngelo and the Rangers potential contract paths this summer. Long term or Bridge Deal?
The 24 year old righty shot has emerged as the Rangers best offensive defenseman since the aforementioned Brian Leetch. Every point he scores is a new career high and he’s at 53 points as I write this. If he plays all 14 remaining games and maintains this scoring pace, he will finish with 64-65 points. Strome On His Way to a Bridge Deal
We also looked at Ryan Strome and his next contract negotiations.
Strome is coming off a deal that comes with a 3.1M AAV. When it comes to numbers the Rangers are likely to offer a deal around 4M while Strome’s side will seek close to 6M. The two sides will likely fall on a 2 year deal at around $5M AAV and never face an arbitrator. Of course, there is always that risk and the Rangers could face an award they would walk away from. Unlikely, but possible. Just remember, Ryan Strome was acquired for Ryan Spooner so I doubt this would turn into a Nik Zherdev situation.
