Rangers Roundup: Kreider Out, Hank Down, Fast Done?
Latest news on the New York Rangers.
Lundqvist’s Frame of Mind
Larry Brooks’ latest reveals that Henrik Lundqvist has let the piling losses impact his play.
“We all knew we were going to have our ups and downs and that it would be a challenge for all of us to manage our emotions,” Lundqvist said. “But we came out of the gates well and there were some very hopeful signs the first couple of months. Then, even though we were still playing well, we were not getting rewarded. And when the losses started coming, it affected the team and it affected me.”

Lundqvist went on to say that going forward he needs to work on controlling his emotions to make his remaining years here enjoyable. The other interesting tidbit was Hank’s wondering on how long he has left.
Henrik has 2 years remaining on his contract but his comments did not indicate to me that he will retire at the conclusion of it. This goes directly to what I wrote on Thursday about how the log jam in goal could extend his career.
Kreider Out, Fast Done?
Chris Kreider will miss tonight’s game against Toronto but the big news appears to be the Rangers possibly shutting down Jesper Fast for the year.
“We’re leaning in that direction,” coach David Quinn said after the winger who is renowned for his toughness and work ethic was not on the ice for Thursday’s practice following Wednesday’s off day. “We don’t want to put anyone in harm’s way.”

I fully expect the Rangers to shut down Fast and be very cautious with all players nursing injuries to close out the year.
