Rangers Roundup: Lundqvist talks free agency, Blueshirts light up WC
The latest on the Rangers from around the web.
SNY catches up with Lundqvist
SNY’s Justine Ward spoke with Henrik Lundqvist at a recent event in Midtown and got the following tidbits.
On Knee:
“I had a PRP shot for me knee three weeks ago, everything is going as planned. Super excited about it, the knee is feeling as good as new. Going back to Sweden soon, probably start skating a little early this summer to work on some things but physically I start to feel pretty good.”
A PRP (platelet rich plasma) shot is an injection that uses a portion of the patient’s own blood having a platelet concentration above baseline, to promote healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joints, can be applied to various musculoskeletal problems.
On Free Agency:
“You can point to different players that are great but in the end it’s about getting the best team on the ice, the right pieces. That is for management to figure out what we need.”
Obviously one of those players is John Tavares, but as Hank is alluding to it’s also about chemistry.
Rangers At the World Championships
A quick look at the WC standings shows Sweden and the U.S. leading their respective groups. Two Rangers are having a significant impact for their countries.
Mika Zibanejad
Zibanejad has 4 goals and 7 points in 6 games for Sweden, including an OT game winner. The Rangers #1 center looks engaged and is making his mark around the goal crease.

Chris Kreider
CK20 looks like a changed man ever since he got the scare of his life this season. Since coming back to play hockey after having surgery to fix a blood clot issue, Kreider is playing fast and relaxed and it’s paying off. He has 2 goals and 7 points in 6 games for Team USA.
