Rangers Roundup: More player outlooks, new hires, new tats and more…
All is relatively quiet now for the Rangers, but you can call it the calm before the storm as we near the opening of training camp in September. Here’s some news and notes.

Fantasy Hockey prognosticators are starting to publish their stats for the next season to get people ready for their fantasy drafts. Here’s where some NYR rank for next season by Matt Larkin of the Hockey News.
- 13. Henrik Lundqvist, G: Fantasy goalies are fickle year to year, but Hank is one of the exceptions. The most consistently excellent stopper of his generation.
- 39. Rick Nash, LW: Another subpar playoffs creates another buy-low opportunity. He’s perfectly handy in the regular season.
- 83. Derek Stepan, C: It would be so much better for poolies if Derek or Derick – Brassard or Stepan – could emerge as the Rangers’ true No. 1 center.
- 130. Derick Brassard, C: Doesn’t produce as much as you’d expect from Rick Nash’s regular center, but 55 to 60 points are nothing to sneeze at.
- 150. Kevin Hayes, C (+2): Talent suggests he’ll progress, but he loses linemates Carl Hagelin and Martin St-Louis, so let’s forecast a repeat of Hayes’ rookie numbers. Curious to know if Jarret Stoll signing will grant Hayes a chance to move to wing in the top six.
- 163. Keith Yandle, D: Shouldn’t he rank way higher? Just seems like he’s less needed in Manhattan than he was in Arizona.
- 168. Mats Zuccarello, RW: Won’t carry a fantasy team but provides enough secondary offense to fill gaps when you have injuries.
New Blood In The Scouting Department
The NYR announced the hirings of Steve Greeley as Assistant Director of Player Personnel and Nickolai Bobrov as Director of European Scouting this past week. Greeley left his position with Boston University as an assistant coach to join the Blueshirts. He will take his recruiting skills and continue the Rangers desire to keep bringing in kids from the College Hockey scene in Boston (Kreider, Hayes, etc…)
As for Bobrov, he was the North American representative for Kontinental Hockey League’s SKA St. Petersburg before joining the Rangers. His familiarity with the KHL and prior NHL experience (served as a video coaching Boston) should help find more talent like Pavel Buchnevich in the future.

The newest Rangers got a new tattoo and it’s pretty sweet.
