Rangers Cap Projections

The Rangers currently have less than $2M in cap space available.

Based on expiring contracts and next year’s new cap limit, the impact looks as follows:

15 players under contract, $23,069,724 in available cap space.

This is with both Kevin Hayes and Mats Zuccarello not on the books due to expiring contracts and several unsigned RFA’s like Pavel Buchnevich, Neal Pionk, and Tony DeAngelo. Also note that players like Brenden Smith and Marc Staal are accounted for in the cap hit.

$23M seems like a lot to sign anywhere between 7-8 players, it only allows for potentially one major free agent signing, unless the Rangers can create more room by moving or buying out either Smith or Staal.
