Rangers Roundup: Opening Night Rumors

The Rangers are less than a week away from opening night and here are few rumors concerning the roster against Winnipeg.

KAKKO MAKES THE TEAM

Today’s practice lines were released and they are very revealing. Take a look:

Here’s the lineup the Rangers posted for today’s practice. I’m guessing, like yesterday, top four lines and first three D pairs will play tomorrow night. But I’ll confirm. #NYR pic.twitter.com/dDiPQYKTro

This is pretty telling when you look at it. The 5th and 6th lines appear to be the locks and Kaapo Kakko is in. Same for the the 4th pair defense and Marc Staal.

Kravtsov In?

Some may read into Kravtsov being on the top line as having one last chance to show what he can do, I see it as an indicator that he will make the opening night roster.

Captain Mika?

Rumor: Sounds like if the #NYR do name Mika Zibanejad Captain it will come with some fanfare on opening night. I wouldn’t go buying Zibanejad jerseys with a C on it though. Wait for official announcement.
