NHL Board of Governors update
Commissioner Gary Bettman provided the final salary cap number for the 2023-24 and the ceiling will be set to $83.5 million. That million dollar increase was the expected amount.
Another update given by the commissioner is that there will be no themed night warmup jerseys worn next season. The commissioner called them a “distraction” that takes away from the celebrations by the team.
“In the final analysis, all of the efforts and emphasis on the importance of these various causes have been undermined by the distraction in terms of which teams, which players (don’t wear the jerseys). This way, we are keeping the focus on the game. On the specialty nights, we’re going to be focused on the cause.”
