Rangers Roundup: Preseason schedule released, salary cap set, and more
The New York Rangers officially announced their 2023-24 preseason schedule on Thursday.
As Forever Blueshirts reported the day prior here, there will be six games in total with three of them to be played at Madison Square Garden.

Rangers release preseason schedule
The Blueshirts will be led this season by new head coach Peter Laviolette. Per multiple reports, his staff will consist of Phil Housley, Michael Peca, and Dan Muse. The team has yet to make all hires official.
New York is currently preparing for the 2023 NHL Draft which takes place in Nashville on June 28th through the 29th.
Here are the Rangers current selections:
- 1st Round – 23rd Overall
- 3rd Round – 91st Overall
- 5th Round – 152nd
- 6th Round – 178th Overall
- 6th Round – 183rd Overall
NHL Board of Governors update
Commissioner Gary Bettman provided the final salary cap number for the 2023-24 and the ceiling will be set to $83.5 million. That million dollar increase was the expected amount.
Another update given by the commissioner is that there will be no themed night warmup jerseys worn next season. The commissioner called them a “distraction” that takes away from the celebrations by the team.
