Over the weekend, two New York Rangers prospects squared off and put on a show.

2020 second round pick Will Cuylle and 2021 first round selection Brennan Othmann exchanged hat tricks in a game that must’ve thrilled the organization.

The Blueshirts drafted Cuylle in the 2020 draft, in the second round (60th overall). The pick was acquired from the L.A. Kings in exchange for Lias Andersson. The 6-3, 212 lbs, 19 year-old winger had an impressive training camp before being sent back to the OHL.

In 16 games, the captain of the Spitfires has 13 goals and 18 points.

The New York Rangers selected 6-0, 175-pound forward Brennan Othmann 15th overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. He had an impressive camp for an 18 year-old and appears to have a bright future. He returned to the Flint Firebirds of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) where he scored 33 points (17 goals, 16 assists) last season.

In 14 games with the Firebirds, he has 13 goals and 20 points.

After scoring just four points in his first seven games to start the season, Artemi Panarin has picked up 15 points in his last 11 games.

In the team’s last game against the Buffalo Sabres, Panarin registered his second three assist game of the year and 5th multipoint game of the season. So what’s changed for the Breadman lately?

“Earlier in the season I was more focused on passing and now I’ve started to focus a little more on shooting,” Panarin said through an interpreter. “Because I’ve done that, it’s opening more space for my teammates and I am finding them a little bit more.”

Panarin now has 19 points in 18 games and creeping closer to his 1.37 career points per game average with the Blueshirts.
