Davydov Speaks About Shestyorkin
In speaking with Russian site Championat, SKA goalie coach Rashit Davydov discussed young SKA goaltender and Rangers prospect Igor Shestyorkin.
When he was asked about Shestyorkin and his plans for the future, Davydov said that the 22-year-old should focus on his development with SKA.
Shesterkin goes to the NHL in a year? Probably, it is necessary to ask him. But I myself sometimes talk this theme with Igor, in terms of his motivation. Shestyorkin’s contract with SKA is up at the end of their season, and the conventional wisdom is that he will likely come over to North America at that time. At the end of last season, SKA goaltender Mikko Koskinen left the club to join the Edmonton Oilers. However, instead of being promoted to the team’s number one netminder, the club went out and acquired former Rangers goaltender Magnus Hellberg. My feeling is that Shestyorkin will honor the end of his contract and then leave St. Petersburg for the bright lights of New York City.
Rangers Alumni Give Back
Former Blueshirts icons Adam Graves, Brian Leetch, and Stephane Matteau, along with fellow alumni Pat LaFontaine, Arron Asham, and Colton Orr will all be playing in the Hockey Helps Marathon, raising money for local charities including Hockey Fights Cancer and Soulful Living for Recovery among others.

The charity even is this weekend in Dix Hills. The marathon starts at 10:00 on Saturday morning, and finishes 24 hours later on Sunday morning.
