Rangers Roundup: Wild Card watch, Kreider fallout, and more
The latest news and notes on the New York Rangers. David Quinn believes the team will respond to Kreider being out, next man up, and playoff odds.
Playoff Odds
While the loss was devastating from a lineup perspective and any hopes getting third place in the Metro, the Rangers wild card odds remain the same as both the Hurricanes and Jackets lost in regulation.
Kreider Injury
Chris Kreider suffered a fractured foot when he got in front of a Philippe Myers shot. David Quinn had no timetable when meeting with the press admitting he had yet to even see Kreider or talk to the trainers. Usually, swelling needs to go down before you can make a more accurate assessment.
Next Man Up
Quinn believes his team will respond to the challenge, just as they did when Mika Zibanejad went down earlier this season. If Kreider is indeed lost for what most expect to be 4-6 weeks, who will the Rangers call up? Greg McKegg who was a scratch last night will likely be reinserted into the lineup, but NY will need another forward up and the top 3 candidates are Steven Fogarty, Vinni Lettieri, and Vitali Kravtsov. I will dive deeper into this later today.
