Rangers Roundup: Zibanejad hurting, Igor soaring, Staal pondering

Here’s the latest buzz surrounding the Blueshirts.
Zibanejad remains out
Mika Zibanejad did not practice and is assumed out for tomorrow against Nashville. David Quinn stated again that it is not a concussion and more of a neck issue.
Quinn also stated he is going with the same lineup. That means another start for Georgiev and Lindgren in for Staal
Staal Upset
We wrote today about the writing being on the wall for Marc Staal. It makes one wonder if Staal will waive his clause and accept a move to a new team. The Winnipeg Jets are desperately in need of help on the blue line and Staal’s old defense partner Pionk is already there.
All Hail the Czar
We mentioned how incredible Igor Shesterkin has been in our scouting report today. Well he was just named AHL goaltender of the month.
Kakko’s Finnish Friend
Larry Brooks reported that Kaapo Kakko has been getting help from a former Finnish player.
The Post has learned, summoned development coach Tuomo Ruutu from his native Finland to New York so he could spend time with his fellow countryman. Ruutu, a 12-year NHL veteran who retired following 2015-16, spent five days last week with the second-overall draft pick.

The Rangers rookie phenom told The Post that having him around has really helped. It allowed the kid to have someone he can relate to in his native language. “We talked about a lot of things, about hockey and about life outside hockey”, Kakko said.
It should be no surprise that Kakko played his most forceful game of his career afterwards. Let’s hope Ruutu hangs around.
