Rangers Routed By Red-Hot Leafs
Here is our recap of the Rangers 4-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
There really is not much good that can be said about this game. The team came out flat, they played flat and got flattened by a hot Leafs team. Giveaways, especially on the breakout, allowed multiple goals, four to be exact. The Rangers had some chances and capitalized on none of them, getting shutout for the second time this season.
“My last two starts I need to play better…I look at the goals, a couple breakdowns and it’s my job to clean it up.” –Henrik Lundqvist Post Game
(Don’t) Give Me a Break
The Rangers, quite simply do not play well coming out of breaks. A team that plays as fast-paced as they do, rest would seem like a huge relief. But for the Blueshirts, it seems to be the opposite. This is the second week-long break where the team comes out flat and gets blown out. Simply put, if the team is looking for time to ‘find their game’ they don’t have that. It is now February and that means the season is winding down quickly. The Rangers head coach addressed if the poor play stemmed from the week off.
“We had two really good practices prior to this, so we should have been better than this.” -Alain Vigneault
