Rangers star Mika Zibanejad a COVID related absence as team preps for key stretch

The New York Rangers announced center Mika Zibanejad is not practicing today. He is out due to a COVID related absence.
While there is no official word on if he will miss time, should he do so it will be during an important stretch.
Zibanejad had COVID last season.

Zibanejad, 28, is a vital cog in the Rangers machine. This season, he has four goals and 14 points in 17 games. He plays in all situations including PP1 and PK1. If he misses time, Filip Chytil will likely move into his spot as the first line center. Kevin Rooney could be moved from the 4th to the third line with Greg McKegg taking his spot on the fourth line.
The Rangers will play the Sabres tomorrow night at the Garden. Then they will begin a rough divisional stretch where they will play the Islanders twice, and the Flyers once. Wedged in between is a tough contest against the Bruins.
