According to a recent podcast, Insider Bob McKenzie states the Rangers are among 5 teams that are very interested in Jets defenseman, Jacob Trouba. It looks like this will become more intriguing as the season progresses.

McKenzie on Trouba

On the Bobcast, Bob McKenzie said “I know of teams that have really significant interest in Trouba, amongst them, Arizona, Boston, Colorado, Detroit and the Rangers.” via SNY

The Coyotes were mentioned as favorites to land him and Craig Morgan of Arizona Sports stated they are aggressively pursuing Trouba and pending UFA, Kevin Shattenkirk whom the Rangers covet as well.

Winnipeg is playing it tough with Trouba who demanded a trade. They really have no choice because simply agreeing to his demands will make them vulnerable with other young players in the future. I expect this to drag out awhile.

Kevin Klein Injury Prone?

Kevin Klein is still out with back spasms. The 31 year old defenseman has missed his fair share of games throughout his career. In two full seasons with the Rangers he’s played 65 and 69 games out of 82 respectively.

While most of us are big fans of Klein and his game, the same wear and tear argument used on Dan Girardi has to apply here too. If Nick Holden can prove to be a suitable replacement for Klein, it would not be shocking to see #8 moved in a deal.
