Rangers sweep Devils with 6-3 win as Ryan Strome continues racking up points
The Rangers continue to step up with Artemi Panarin and Jacob Trouba still out. They’ve now won six of their last eight games with a season high three game winning streak. The Blueshirts have also climbed above .500 for the first time all year.
Next step – keep it going in Pittsburgh.
Rangers vs Devils: Adam Fox continues to shine
Adam Fox is really coming into his own this season. The 23 year-old right defenseman opened the scoring with a beautiful coast-to-coast goal. It was his second goal of the season and he would add an assist which gives him 14 points in 22 games.
As Fox rolls so do the Rangers. In his last six games he’s notched seven points (1G, 6A). His stellar play has been noticed and rewarded by the coaching staff. Fox has been the top ice getter for 13 straight games.
Ryan Strome has lifted his game in Panarin’s absence
While there’s been a lot of focus lately on Chris Kreider and Alexis Lafrenière (and rightfully so), one needs to give Ryan Strome a ton of credit. Today he scored twice and in his last eight games has 11 points (4G, 7A).
Considering how bad Mika Zibanejad has struggled to put up points, Strome’s production has been most welcome. “Today was a pretty solid effort,” Strome said after his empty netter sealed the game. “I think all-around, we got to be pretty pleased with the contributions of everyone.”
Filip Chytil heating up
Another great sign in the Rangers win was the dominant play of Filip Chytil. He set up Kevin Rooney for a crucial goal in the first after the Devils scored twice in 17 seconds to knot the game up.
He was moving his legs all game and had a number of odd man chances. In the third period he converted a great feed by Julien Gauthier in front to make it 5-2. He’s now registered points in each of the last two games (1G, 2A), and he has points in five of the eight games he’s played this season. On the year he has six points.
