Rangers top prospects Matthew Robertson and Braden Schneider invited to Canada’s WJC camp
The Rangers have three prospects making their way to Canada’s selection camp for the World Juniors. 2019 Draft pick, Matthew Robertson and 2020 picks Braden Schneider and Dylan Garand will compete for a roster spot.
Matthew Robertson
The Rangers selected the promising defenseman Matthew Robertson of the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings in the 2nd round of the 2019 draft. He is a strong skater whose hockey IQ is considered way above average. His skating and transition game makes his play anticipation and ability to control the puck a huge strong suit. Robertson has already got the Rangers believing he will one day start at the Garden as well.
Braden Schneider
The Rangers traded up with the Flames to select Braden Schneider at 19 overall in the 2020 NHL Draft. The 19 year-old defenseman skated in 60 games with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL last season, tallying seven goals and 35 assists for 42 points, along with a plus-nine rating and 42 penalty minutes.
The 6-2, 210-pounder has skated in 185 career WHL games over parts of four seasons (2016-17 – 2019-20), all with Brandon, registering 16 goals and 72 assists for 88 points, along with a plus-32 rating and 84 penalty minutes.
Dylan Garand
The Rangers selected goalie Dylan Garand in the 4th round of the 2020 Draft. The18 year-old posted a 28-10-3 record in appeared in 42 games with the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL. He also had 2.21 GAA, a .921 SV%, with 4 shutouts.
