Rangerstown goes to Hockeytown looking for a big win (NYR at DET 7pm)

I'm expecting a big night from Big Rick Nash (Joe Camporeale, USA TODAY Sports)

The Rangers are finally back in action tonight as the face the Red Wings, who are winners of 5 out of their last 6. Cam Talbot gets the call to try and clip Detroit’s Wings.

NOTES:

RANGERS TO WATCH

Cam Talbot (Bruce Bennett/Getty Images)

1. Cam Talbot – The Blueshirts will look to the Goalbuster to stay hot and shut down the Red Wings. As mentioned above, his 1st NHL win game at the Joe.

2. Rick Nash – I’m still not sure Rangers fans realize this is the player Sather coveted so desperately. 16 GOALS and 26 POINTS in 24 GAMES! The numbers and his play have been amazing and I expect a recharged Nash to go hard tonight.

3. Ryan McDonagh – A full week of practice with usual defense partner Dan Girardi should bring out the Mac Truck we all know and love.

EYE ON THE ENEMY

Pavel Datsyuk (Dave Reginek/Getty)

1. Pavel Datsyuk – Since Thanksgiving, the “Magic Man” has 6 goals and 8 points in 5 games. If this guy could stay healthy for a full 82 he would challenge for a scoring title.

2. Gustav Nyquist – He has 2 goals in his last 3 games and 12 tallies on the season. His speed is fantastic and his shot is even better. Rangers can’t sleep on this guy.

3. Niklas Kronwall – Kronwall is heating up. After going 5 games without a point he has 5 points in his last 6 from the Detroit blue-line.

FULLTILT FORECAST

My record is at 12-12 as I continue to pick with my gut instead of my head.

Honestly, the Wings should win tonight but I just feel the Rangers were playing solid hockey against everyone but Tampa for weeks. It’s time for Rick Nash to net the hat-trick and lead NY to victory!
