Repeat History, Make History! Rangers look to advance to ECF (WSH v NYR 7:30PM)
The Rangers have forced Game 7 for the second time in the last two playoff years. In 2014, the Blueshirts roared back to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins in 7 games. It was the first time in their franchise history they ever defeated the Pens in the post-season, but it was also the first time they ever completed a comeback down 3-1.
Here we are again, exactly one year to the day the Rangers defeated Pittsburgh that the Rangers can repeat history and in the process make history. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, no NHL team has completed 3-1 series comeback in consecutive years (the Minnesota Wild did it twice in 2003).

The Rangers need to put all Alex Ovechkin talk aside, and they have. Alain Vigneault dismissed it by saying “I’m sure both teams want to win” and his players essentially followed suit. Talk only matters on the ice in the form of actions and that’s where Henrik Lundqvist thrives in Game 7’s.
