In a chat room Q&A on July 29th, St. Louis Dispatch reporter, Jeremy Rutherford discussed the latest rumors involving Kevin Shattenkirk.

Here is the exchange:

STL DISPATCH

This confirms that of all the trade rumors out there involving Shattenkirk, the ones with the Rangers and in particular Nash continue to persist.

There has to be some smoke to this fire at this point. Maybe just like the deal that had Brassard going to Ottawa at the draft, but wasn’t completed until the Rangers paid out his bonus, something could be holding up this one.

Could that something be the fate of Jimmy Vesey? Are the Rangers trying to add him when he’s eligible to sign on 8/15? If the Rangers can land him, will they feel more comfortable giving up one of their best offensive threats for Shattenkirk?

Once again, these rumors usually lead to more questions than answers. However, this time we can see that even on the Blues side, the deal is starting to make sense.
