SWAPPING CAPTAINS! Rangers Land Marty St. Louis

The rumor has become a reality! Martin St. Louis is now a NY Ranger. Glen Sather would not budge from his offer of 6 years at 36 million dollars. So 3 million dollars sends Ryan Callahan packing and the Rangers now have a premier goal scorer and a power play specialist.
Make no mistake, at 38 years of age St. Louis is a game changer. He instantly gives the Rangers a unique weapon and lethal power play. He is the type of player that will make his teammates better and cause the opposition to game plan for him. Thus giving players like Rick Nash and Brad Richards more room. This trade says the Rangers and Sather are going for it.
NY sends Ryan Callahan, a 1st round pick and 2nd round pick to Tampa Bay for their leading scorer. Steve Yzerman wanted proven prospects like Jesper Fast and Danny Kristo, but Sather managed to hold on to them. TSN’s Bob McKenzie said that TB views Callahan as a rental and will not give him the money he seeks. All this points to Ryan Callahan will be available July 1st and you can expect the Sabres to go all in on him. TSN’s Darren Dreger added that if the Lightning sign Callahan a conditional pick will return.
Looking ahead, the Rangers will most likely name Rick Nash, Dan Girardi or Marc Staal the new Captain. It also has thrusted the Rangers into legit Eastern Conference contenders. The only question remaining, are they done? All we know right now is that a new toy will be in the lineup tonight versus Toronto.
NOTE: Per TSN, if NYR get to the ECF the 2nd rd pick becomes a 1st rd pick. If Cally stays NY gets their 2nd rd pick.
