TEAM USA Beats Czech Republic, Set Sights On Canada

USA faces off vs. CZE

Team USA put on a rock solid performance to advance to the semifinals at Sochi. America’s speed and grit were just too much for the Czechs. To the credit of the aging Czech Republic squad, they took it to Team USA after an early goal by James van Reismdyk. Ales Hemsky, who scored twice today, was credited with the goal that went off Ryan McDonagh’s clearing attempt and Suter’s skate.

ALL USA AFTER THAT

Dustin Brown, David Backes, Zach Parise and Phil Kessel put on a show to end any hope for the Czechs. The Backes goal was the killer with 1.8 seconds on the clock in the 1st period.

Ryan Suter had a great game with 3 assists to lead all U.S. players in scoring. Jonathan Quick was a rock in net and kept the U.S. in it when the Czechs were buzzing early.

RANGERS OLYMPIC WATCH

McDonagh was a horse again and finished the day with an assist, plus 1. Ryan Callahan was solid on a unit with Backes and Brown to finish with zero points and a plus 1 rating. Team USA has a great chance to win Gold even with a match up against Canada looming.
