Update: Rangers can expose Dan Girardi to expansion draft
Larry Brooks updated his Sunday column with the following information on how no move clauses and expiring contracts will be handled next summer.

In essence, because Dan Girardi’s no move becomes a limited no trade at the end of next year, he DOES NOT have to be protected. On the flip side, Marc Staal will have to be protected as his no move expires the following summer.
This new information makes buying out Girardi even less fiscally sound as he could be picked up in the expansion draft next summer besides a possible trade.
