Wolf Pack sign Tanner Fritz
Hartford secured the services of Tanner Fritz through a one year American Hockey League contract. The signing does not count against the cap space for the New York Rangers.
The 30 year old veteran spent the last six seasons with Bridgeport. Fritz has also accumulated 42 games in the National Hockey League with the Islanders and recorded 8 points. Last season in the AHL, he scored 6 points in 20 games.
The familiar foe is well known to Wolf Pack fans as he was noticeable in all games against Hartford, either on the scoresheet or in scrimmages. Fritz competes at a strong level and he will be mentoring the prospects for the upcoming season.
Much needed experience for a young team
Fritz’ veteran presence will guide and mentor the prospects on ice and in the locker room. Furthermore, Fritz has been through plenty of situations in the AHL level that would further guide the prospects. Bridgeport gave the veteran the “A” last season as well.
Essentially, Fritz replaces Vincent LoVerde’s role on the roster. Martin did a good job identify a weakness and addressed it to further compliment the team.
Fritz will be dependable for offense and provide depth that is needed to maintain a developing and winning culture in the league. He has the ability to play at center or wing, which helps for line combinations.
In addition, Fritz can be dependable on both sides of the puck. A reliable face-off presence and a willingness to shoot add to his game.
The finalized roster will be enticing to watch. The upcoming season holds a lot of promises and Martin’s first signing should pay off throughout the season.
