Today is the deadline for American Hockey League clubs to submit their finalized roster.  Hartford’s preseason action came to a close on Saturday.  As we look forward to the upcoming season, there were a few interesting roster moves.  I am pleased to give you folks updates throughout the season with the latest happenings.  Here is what on tap for this week.  The time is here, the season begins this week!

Preseason

Hartford played two games last week.  The first game was on Thursday playing players that were tried out.  Hartford fell 2-0 against Bridgeport.

Saturday night was closer to the finalized roster.  However, Bridgeport was stronger and gave the Pack trouble as Hartford was defeated 7-1.  Majority of the cuts were announced prior to game time on Saturday.  The final cuts occurred on Monday.  After the two games, I would not sound the alarm yet.  It was only preseason.  They should be better in the regular season.

A Look Ahead

The season begins Friday for Hartford.  They will play two home games this week.  Opening night features a return of the Charlotte Checkers, a team that Hartford had not faced since the 2010-11 season. Charlotte returns to the Eastern Conference since that season as well.

On Sunday the Lehigh Valley Phantoms comes into Hartford for the first of six meetings.  Last season Hartford struggled with the powerhouse of Lehigh Valley.  The matchup will be a good early test for Hartford.
