The “YES WE CAM” Campaign!
Ok Rangers fans, our Blushirts are in the thick of an intense battle for playoff positioning. The Metro Division and even the Eastern Conference’s top spot are well within reach. However, the Rangers were dealt a serious blow when we were informed Henrik Lundqvist would be gone at least 3 weeks to a vascular injury.
In comes Cam Talbot who is known in the Rangers locker room as “Calm Talbot”. Under pressure and without warning, Talbot stepped in between the pipes and delivered a 3-2 win versus the rival Boston Bruins.
Cam’s career stats show that he has been more than a capable backup since he jumped on the scene October 24th, 2013 in a 2-1 loss to the Flyers. Last year, Cam started in 19 games and helped the Rangers stay afloat as they found their way under AV’s new system.
This season, Talbot has only started 10 games but has performed sharply since going 0-2-1 with 12 goals against to start the year. Since then, Talbot has gone 5-2 with 3 shutouts and a stellar 1.57 GAA (.942 SV%). Those are simply outstanding numbers.
We all want Henrik Lundqvist to get well soon. The Rangers have given Hank and his team a great insurance plan with a big 33 on his back and a Ghostbuster themed goalie mask.
It’s time for all the Ranger Faithful to get behind the backup for the next 12-14 games as Lundqvist heals. For the month of February, I’m asking Rangers fans to use the #YesWeCam on social media to show our support for Talbot and the Blueshirts!
