I miss Connor McDavid, and you should too
It has been almost a month now since Connor McDavid has been out with a broken collarbone, and I have to admit, I genuinely miss him. It’s not because I’m a fan-boy or that I love McDavid, but I am a genuine hockey fan, and for that reason, I miss Connor McDavid. The “what could have been” is already sinking in as other rookies continue to shine, we must not forget what McDavid was able to accomplish in his short time.
The numbers speak for themselves. Here are the top 10 rookie point leaders as of December 2nd.
Pretty shocking to be honest. Guys like Duclair, Larkin, Bennett, and especially Jack Eichel just narrowly edging out McDavid in points while playing 11-12 more games than he did. The Jack Eichel one is what really makes you think considering that it seems like every-time Eichel touches the puck he was putting points on the board, but instead he has the same number of points as McDavid with 12 more games. The number 1 and 2 draft picks from this years class certainly are living up to the hype, but the Eichel and McDavid comparison obviously is flawed with Connor not playing, but boy do I wish number 97 was still on the ice.
Again it makes you think, what could have been. If McDavid never went down with his injury would he be right up there with Domi and Panarin? Would he have went through a slump and stayed right in the middle of the pack? We’ll never know the answer to that unfortunately, and for that reason, that is why you should miss Connor McDavid. You don’t even have to be an Oilers fan, if you’re just a fan of the game of hockey, you should miss Connor McDavid because we have all been robbed at seeing a future all-star develop in his early years, and have to wait even longer to see him take the ice again.
Just take a look at some of these highlights…

The one thing that we do know for sure is that the future of the National Hockey League is in good hands with all these bright up and coming stars.
Get better faster Connor, the league misses you.
