UPDATE: Girardi will sit with an injured hand! McIlrath in.
UPDATE: Per Pat Leonard of the NYDN, Girardi will sit and Dylan McIlrath will face the Islanders.
I won’t deny it, I am a bit stunned considering Girardi practiced and it is only a laceration. Could this be Alain Vigneault giving McIlrath a spot start? Or is it a realization that Girardi’s recent play has earned him a little time off. We will see.

Alain Vigneault is going to speak to the media at 5PM, and most Rangers fans are waiting to hear if Dan Girardi will play tonight. If you are one of those who is hoping he doesn’t, you haven’t been watching him or AV close enough.
First off, it’s a lacerated hand. It isn’t broken and he practiced yesterday. Even though it was noted he had trouble gripping his stick, do you think that’s enough to keep this warrior out of the lineup for this pivotal division rivalry contest? And, AV loves him.
You’re kidding yourself. I fully expect AV to say Girardi is playing tonight. I’ll keep you posted either way.
