Adam Fox injury not serious; what are the Rangers options
Adam Fox’s injury is “not too serious” so fans of the New York Rangers can breathe a collective sigh of relief.
Early in the third period, Fox was pinned up against the boards in what appeared to be an innocent play. However, as soon as he was released he gingerly skated to the bench in discomfort.
Fox left the game and did not return.
UPDATE: FOX ON IR
Adam Fox injury not serious
Gerard Gallant spoke with the media after the game and was more concerned with his team’s performance. He did say about Fox that the injury was upper-body and listed him as day-to-day.
“Obviously you’re concerned about the guy when he doesn’t come back in the third,” Gallant said about Fox. “I’m sure it’s a minor injury. It’s not like he left with a serious one.”
Fox, 23, is having a monster serious for the Blueshirts and recorded another assist against Columbus before the injury. This season, he has 47 points in 44 contests which leads all NHL blue-liners in scoring.
If Adam Fox is not able to play it will be interesting to see who gets inserted into the lineup. Could Braden Schneider, who collected two assists last night move up to play with Ryan Lindgren? Zac Jones is on the active roster and is most likely to slide in, but natural RD Nils Lundkvist is on the taxi squad and could move up.
Rangers lose a bad one
Boone Jenner scored twice and added two assists as the Columbus Blue Jackets rallied from an early deficit and broke a three-game losing streak with a 5-3 victory over the visiting New York Rangers on Thursday night.
Panarin opened the scoring 89 seconds in when he cut from the left wing to the middle of the slot and sent a wrist shot under Korpisalo. Goodrow made it 2-0 a little over three minutes later when he used a skate to deflect a shot from Schneider into the net.
Columbus scored twice in a span of 1:39 as Nyquist re-directed a shot from Patrik Laine past Georgiev and Jenner deflected a shot from the right point by Werenski into the net.
“We’ve had some bad starts in a row, so it was nice to get a good start,” Jacob Trouba said. “When we had a two-goal lead that’s something you don’t want to give up.”
Kuraly gave Columbus the lead 6:18 into the second by getting alone in the low slot and re-directing a cross-ice pass from Max Domi. Jenner scored again when his wrist shot from a sharp angle slipped by Georgiev a little over six minutes later.
Zibanejad’s one-timer from the left circle made it a one-goal game with 12:48 remaining.
New York’s Alexandar Georgiev allowed four goals on 18 shots.
“We let them back in,” Gallant said. “We get up 2-0 and then it seemed like we stopped playing a little bit, a little overconfident, I don’t know. They took the momentum and we never got it back.”
