Breaking: Filip Chytil back to NY for further evaluation will not play tomorrow, Georgiev gets the start
Filip Chytil suffered what appeared to be a wrist injury in yesterday’s loss to the Penguins. He is now on a plane and headed back to New York for further evaluation and will not play tomorrow in Buffalo.
Filip Chytil out with injury
What remains to be seen is just how bad the injury is and if he will miss more than just the one game. The Rangers will be facing Buffalo tomorrow and then again on Thursday. It’s very well likely he could miss both contests.
The Blueshirts return home on January 30th for a rematch against the Penguins. If the injury is minor he could return then. For now, who takes his spot at center? Best guess says Brett Howden gets the opportunity.
That also means Brendan Lemieux and/or Julien Gauthier could return to the lineup if Quinn wants to take out Kevin Rooney or Colin Blackwell also.
Alexandar Georgiev to start
The Rangers will make another change in goal and give the reins to Alexandar Georgiev tomorrow night. Igor Shesterkin was shaky in the third period and cost the team a win.
Georgiev is 1-1 on the season with a 2.40 GAA and .907 SV%.
