Devils look to burn the Rangers at the Rock (NYR at NJD, 7PM)
The NJ Devils look to pick up their first home win of the season against the rival NY Rangers. After winning their first 3 games the Devils have hit the skids for 2 straight losses, giving up 10 goals in the process. The Rangers are winners of their last 2 and were impressive against the Sharks. This one is going to get nasty.
GAME 7: New York Rangers at New Jersey Devils, Prudential Center, Tuesday at 7:00 PM
Daily Faceoff Goalie Matchup:
Rangers to Watch:
Kevin Hayes- We’re leaving the kid on here again because 1 good game isn’t good enough in the NHL. Yes, Hayes was impressive versus SJ but he needs to show the Rangers he can stand up to the intensity and punishment divisional games bring.
Mats Zuccarello- We called out Carl Hagelin the last game and he came through. A nasty divisional game is just what the hobbit needs to become that pest under the other team’s skin to get going. Look for Zucc to stand out in this contest.
Tanner Glass- Your snob-nosed Ranger bloggers hate him (his contract mostly), but it’s games like this that we need him. Against the Sharks, Andrew Desjardins went running around looking for trouble. Glass immediately recognized this and answered the bell, stopping any tomfoolery he tried to start.
Note: No word on if Duclair will play, we assume if he does, Ryan Malone might get scratched.
Eye on the Enemy:
Adam Henrique- If for no other reason than him being a thorn in the Rangers side. He has 5 points in 5 games but always elevates his play versus the Blueshirts.
Mike Cammalleri- He’s rejuvenated and leads the Devils with 7 points. He also has 2 PPG’s on the season meaning he’s the man to mark when the Rangers are down on specialty teams.
Jaromir Jagr– Only 3 assists on the year for JJ? That spells trouble to me, as he will look to get back at his former team tonight. He’s old, I get it, but the man can still play and it’s early in the year. Jagr’s legs are fresh now, that won’t be the case come January.
FullTilt Forecast:
So far the FullTilt Forecast is now 4-2 on the season with predictions. I feel like Stella with her groove right now. Time to pad my stats some more.
The New York Rangers are clicking right now, aside from the PP. Henrik Lundqvist looks comfortable and that’s important because he really is the foundation for every Rangers win.
The key tonight will be to stay disciplined and keep this contest 5 on 5. Putting NJ on the man advantage is the only way I see them winning. Stay out of the box, and capitalize on the odd man rushes the Blueshirts are bound to get.
Look for Ryan McDonagh to shine in this contest as the Blueshirts take it to NJ for a 5-2 win.
