There was the alternate captain and senior leader talking with the media after the game, his voice firm and confident. “We have to finish the job tomorrow,” said the red hot Marty St. Louis, who recorded a goal and assist for 1000 career points.

MSL has been on fire for NY since scoring twice against the Blues on Nov. 3rd. With 8 goals and 13 points in his last 12 games, he’s certainly on pace to lead the Rangers in points this year.

Sadly, Chris Kreider will not be in the lineup today as he lost his grandfather yesterday. The Rangers have recalled JT Miller to take his place as Tanner Glass and his “flu-like” symptoms remain in the stands.

As for the game yesterday, the Rangers simply took it to the Flyers from start to finish – again.

RANGERS 3 vs. FLYERS 0

It began with a Dan Boyle power play point blast with MSL getting an assist and was closed out with a Rick Nash shorthanded goal. Somewhere in between, Marty St. Louis made history by picking up his 1000th NHL point on a goal to make it 2-0.

MSL told Blueshirts United, “To get a thousand, it’s a great accomplishment. I’m not going to hide my feelings, I’m proud of that. To do it in a win, and to do it on a goal, I think it makes it even more special.”

The Rangers also got their 6th shutout of the season. Per Elias, the last time they did that in their first 22 games was back in 1936-37. Cam Talbot has 2 of those shutouts, both against the Flyers.

“Tonight was another good stepping stone for me, and hopefully moving forward I can continue to help the team win whenever I am in there,” Cam told Jim Cerny. Meanwhile his coach was very happy with his team’s efforts again.

“We were able to get some timely goals and we had some big blocked shots or big saves from our goalie,” Alain Vigneault said in his presser. Today, he will expect more of the same from his surging team that has won 3 of their last 4 and outscored opponents 13-4 in the process.
