New York Rangers players react to Lady Liberty Reverse Retro jerseys
The New York Rangers have proudly placed the face of Lady Liberty on their Reverse Retro jerseys by Adidas. Players then gave their reactions to today’s big reveal and they overwhelmingly love them.
New York Rangers players love Lady Liberty
There were several “OOOOHHS”, “WOWS” and “OH YEAHS” over the jerseys. Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba said “they nailed it with the Statue of Liberty.
Alexandar Georgiev remarked “I think the fans are going to love this one.” “Well we need something to spice up this 2020,” Brendan Smith noted. Although I have to ask, do we need to spice up 2020 any more?
The biggest advocate for Lady Liberty is Tony DeAngelo who loved it and said “that’s the one”. He’s been on record calling the 1996 original Liberty jerseys one of the nicest ever.
The jerseys will go on sale exclusively on NHL Shop and Adidas stores on December 1.
Henrik Lundqvist has a job with the Rangers when he retires
Just before midnight, I released the US version of an interview Henrik Lundqvist did with GP in Sweden. In it Hank revealed this big piece of news; when he retires he’s coming back.
“This is a new chapter (Washington), and I look forward to the test,” Lundqvist said to Johan while driving to a practice rink in NJ. “But I’ll be a part of the Rangers for the rest of my life, in one way or another. Both I and the Rangers have been clear about that. That’s how it will be.”
The GP reporter followed up for clarity if that meant a job with the Rangers when his career was done. “Yes, it will be the role they want it to be,” Hank responded.
“I don’t know if the role will be small or if there will be something more.” Lundqvist added. “It is further ahead. It’s all about timing. It’s just not now.”
“I feel that I will somehow be connected to Rangers forever after so many years and all the people I got to know in the club, from the owner on down,” he concluded on the topic.
Full Henrik Lundqvist interview includes thoughts on Washington, COVID-19, and the US Election. You can read it here.
