New York Rangers want to brush off turnover filled loss to Flames
“Sloppy,” Jacob Trouba said about the New York Rangers loss to the Flames. “A lot of turnovers fueled their offense.” The veteran defenseman didn’t stop there as he called out his team’s “sexy East to West” game that burned them consistently.
He couldn’t be more right as the Blueshirts coughed over the puck again and again to the tune of 20 times. None was worse than Patrick Nemeth passing one on to the tape of Andrew Mangiapane who tallied twice. Blake Coleman and Mikael Backlund both collected one goal and one assist to lead the visiting Calgary Flames to a 5-1 victory on Monday.
Sloppy!

Rangers want to forget about this one and move on
One thing about this Rangers team is they don’t want to dwell on negatives and last night’s game qualifies. Same with the season opening loss to the Capitals. They need to dismiss it and focus on the game at hand which will be a tough but beatable Blue Jackets team.
“We didn’t play well tonight,” Trouba said after the game. “We’ve got a couple of days in between. Regroup and worry about the next one on Friday.”
The head coach also didn’t want to focus on the negatives, but he called them out as plain as day.
“We just made so many bad turnovers in the first period, trying to make cute plays instead of the strong plays up the boards, and it really cost us,” Gallant said. “Even though it was 1-0 after the first, we made a lot of turnovers, and [Shesterkin] had to be unbelievable in the first period. I think that really cost us the hockey game. Even though we got back in the third period and made it 2-1, the first period was a tough one to watch.”
Dryden Hunt scored his first for the Rangers, whose four-game winning streak was snapped. Goalie Igor Shesterkin stopped 32 shots of 37, but a majority were point blank shots in the slot area. He certainly should not be blamed, but it will be interesting with three days off who gets the next start against Columbus.
The Rangers will then head back on the road to face the Seattle Kraken on Halloween night. That will be followed by three more games on Canada’s West Coast (VAN, EDM, CGY).
No time to sulk. No time to dwell on the negatives. Just forget and get right back at it.
