Rangers and Hurricanes playing mind games as series set to kick off tomorrow, DeAngelo game-time decision
In the days leading up to tomorrow’s game one of the Rangers and Hurricanes opening qualify round, I noted that coaches look for any advantage they can. Now both David Quinn and Rod Brind’Amour are upping the stakes.
Dougie Hamilton skates, out for game one against NYR
Last weekend, reports coming out of Carolina basically had defenseman, Dougie Hamilton on his deathbed. Yes, that’s an exaggeration but it sounded like he would miss the first three games for sure. Lo and Behold, Dougie Hamilton skated today for the Canes.
He will not play tomorrow in game one, but it sure looks like he may get in for game two. Let’s see how this plays out.
“Dougie is getting better for sure, but he’s unfit [to play] so he won’t be in there tomorrow,” coach Rod Brind’Amour said Friday. Brind’Amour said he’s hopeful Hamilton will play at some point during the series.

So who is in goal for the Rangers and Hurricanes?
David Quinn has been extremely reluctant to name the Rangers starter. Well now, Rod Brind’Amour won’t name one for the Hurricanes. Are we having fun yet?
Projected Starters: Igor Shesterkin (NYR) vs. Petr Mrazek (CAR)
Marc Staal will play, Tony DeAngelo is a game-time decision
Sorry for burying the lede as they say in the business. Marc Staal who left Wednesday’s exhibition contest against the Islanders will play tomorrow. However, Tony DeAngelo who led all players in ice time did not practice today and is a game-time decision.
It’s the playoffs, let the games begin.
