I’ve seen it on the sports highlights. What’s he, 14-0-1?” Rick Nash said surprisingly after practice yesterday. The Rangers leading scorer is talking about the Senators white-hot goalie, Andrew Hammond who is 14-0-1 with a GAA of 1.67 and a stellar .946 SV%.

Tonight, the Blueshirts travel to Ottawa to take on a Senators team that may very well be a first round opponent. If they could hand Hammond his first regulation loss of the year, it could go a long way come playoffs.

NOTES

Season Series (1-0 NYR)

Via Blueshirts United: After playing just once so far this season the Rangers and Senators will meet twice in a 16-day span down the stretch of the 2014-15 regular season. Back on January 20 the Rangers rallied for a 3-2 overtime victory over the Senators at Madison Square Garden, with Chris Kreider scoring the tying goal early in the third period and Carl Hagelin netting the winner 2:55 into overtime. Hagelin led New York with a goal and an assist, while Henrik Lundqvist stopped 33 of 35 shots between the pipes. Last season New York won two of three from the Senators, with New York’s second victory an 8-4 thrashing of Ottawa at Canadian Tire Centre in the Rangers most recent visit to the Canadian capital on March18, 2014. In that game Lundqvist made 35 saves and became the franchise leader in victories with 302. Derick Brassard scored twice and added an assist in that contest, and Rick Nash also had two goals. The Senators have won six of the last nine regular games they have played against the Rangers.
