Rangers Fail To Press Advantage Against Flyers

There were the Rangers up 2-0 in game two. On home ice with a tremendous opportunity to take control of this series. Until the Flyers woke up.

It was a chip and chase play that led to a Jakub Voracek goal and an eventual 4-2 win.

New York jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with goals from Marty St. Louis and Benoit Pouliot. However, the Flyers would refuse to get rattled and continued to apply pressure in the offensive zone and punish the Rangers.

With the game at 2-1 Rangers in the second period, the Flyers would cash in on a PP to tie it 5 minutes in. Ray Emery stood tall in net as the Rangers came at him often. The game winner was scored by Luke Schenn at the 11:18 mark and that would be all Philadelphia needed.

SETTLE DOWN

After the Rangers went up 2-0 in the first period, Jakub Voracek was seen screaming and motioning his arms for everyone to settle down. He backed it up by scoring a beautiful goal around the Rangers two best players on defense. First by beating Ryan McDonagh and then getting around Henrik Lundqvist to get the Flyers on the board.

Ray Emery stopped all 17 shots launched his way in the second period. Had just one of those shots got by him, this could have been a very different result.

Now the stage is set for a pivotal matchup in Philadelphia for game 3. Face-off is scheduled for 8pm ET. NY will look to take their outstanding regular season road record into Philadelphia for a win. The Rangers will also need Henrik Lundqvist to elevate his play in order to allow the Blueshirt big guns to get going.

Philadelphia will look to take game two’s formula into game three and let it fly. Expect the same aggressive style again. However, if Mason is healthy, do you make the switch in goal. Interesting subplot going into Tuesday night.
