Rangers Know, It’s All About Momentum
Alain Vigneault is watching the NHL playoffs. He knows that one of the biggest factors going into tonight is momentum.
“When you have it (momentum), you want to keep it. And when you don’t have it, you want to make sure those next couple shifts are good ones.”
Right now, the New York Rangers have all the momentum and they need to keep it. A game 4 win and they can head home on Sunday to close out the series. The Blueshirt players know about it as well. Kevin Klein told reporters yesterday, “In these whole playoffs you see teams up two, three goals and losing games.”
It’ll be up to the Rangers to identify those possible changes in momentum and handle them. If they can do so, they stand an excellent chance to pick up the win and possible enjoy a short series.
The Other Side
Steve Mason will make the game 4 start and the Rangers will need to pepper him often. Mason will need to shake off the rust and deliver for a Flyers team that needs a lift. However, if the Philadelphia can’t stay out of the box, NY’s power play could put a damper on Mason’s night quickly.
Also, it should not be lost that Claude Giroux guaranteed a win tonight. He will be feeling the pressure to deliver and if things go south early, his game may spiral. Philadelphia is looking for a spark to even the series. Claude’s bold statement could wind up backfiring, big time.
Fulltilt Forecast
This Rangers team is hot and clicking at the right time. Henrik Lundqvist also had his best performance in game 3. If he has turned it on, the Flyers can fire 3 pucks at a time and won’t beat him.
New York will win this game 3-1. The Rangers will have the opportunity to close the Flyers out, Sunday at MSG.
