Rangers look to take down the undefeated Islanders
The Rangers continue their 4 game home stand against a confident and unbeaten NY Islanders squad. This will give the Blueshirts an opportunity to redeem themselves for a poor performance against the Leafs on Sunday.
GAME 4: New York Islanders at New York Rangers, Madison Square Garden, Tuesday at 7:00 PM
Goalie Matchup: Henrik Lundqvist vs. Jaroslav Halak
Rangers to Watch:Â
Henrik Lundqvist, because when the King is angry and focused, it’s usually a very bad thing for the opposition.
JT Miller, it’s getting late for the young man and he needs to be lightyears better than he’s been. JT is a -4 in 3 games thus far and needs to play with an edge and an attitude tonight.
Ryan McDonagh, both he and Dan Girardi had a miserable home opener and tonight gets no easier with John Tavares in town. However, this game will get chippy and McD needs to generate offense from the point on the PP.
Eye on the Enemy:
John Tavares, yes, call me Captain Obvious but I can’t begin to stress enough how excellent and vital he is to the Islanders offense. Keep him in check and your chances of winning increase exponentially.
Jaroslav Halak, if he gets on a roll, watch out. Halak can steal games but the scouting report on Halak is shoot high and often.
Brock Nelson, he has 6 points in 2 games, so he’s hot. And most hockey players are streaky, so it may continue. Marc Staal and Kevin Klein will need to mark Mr. Nelson well when he’s on the ice.
FullTilt Forecast:Â
Redemption will not be easy to come by. The good news is this, the Islanders will bring out that high level of focus it appears the Rangers were lacking on Sunday.
Both these teams will be amped up to play each other and the Blueshirts will need the King to bail them out on the odd man chances the Islanders will get.
Tonight, Rick Nash will continue his streaky play and find the back of the net at least once. He’s gone on these goal binges before and it should continue. Just remember that when he also goes on a 6 game goalless drought.
Backed by the King, the Rangers win this game 3-2. If you don’t have antacid in the house, get some before they drop the puck.
