Rangers Looking to Find Offense; Face Struggling Senators Team
The Rangers head into Ottawa, now fighting for their playoff lives, after dropping from second in the Metropolitan Division, to the last and final Wild Card spot with Washington nipping at their heels sitting two points back.
Free Falling
The Senators in their own right have been struggling themselves too, going 3-5-2 in their last 10 including a disappointing weekend set of games, where they blew a 3 goal lead against the Canadiens, and then followed it up with a 3-1 loss to the Avalanche the very next day.
For the Rangers, 4-5-1 in their last ten, saw after a dominating performance against San Jose where they compiled 41 shots, saw a 0 on the scoreboard, as they fell to the Sharks 1-0. The Rangers are looking for the offensive spark, as their two biggest contributors Rick Nash and Martin St. Louis have failed to find the back of the net.
Carry that Weight
In the quest for 302, Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist needs to be his elite self, as the scoring troubles continue for the Rangers. He needs to steal games away for the Rangers, like he has done in the past. This game is no different. He needs to be that guy that steals those games away, and help his team.
Yet, doesn’t hurt to get help from his team either.
FullTilt Forecast
While I want to say MSL will break out of the slump, he will get his due. He will contribute and help put the pressure on the Senators. Craig Anderson will miss another start due to injury, and it should be a field day for the Rangers as they look to win their second game this year in Ottawa. The Rangers will do just that, winning 3-2.
