Rangers ready to make MSG, home sweet home

Henrik Lundqvist will be back in net for the home opener (NHL)

The Rangers open up their 2014-15 home campaign against the reeling Maple Leafs at 7:00 PM. Coming home 1-1 from a 2 game opening road trip, the Blueshirts look to improve on their 20-17-4 mark on MSG ice from last season.

GAME 3: Toronto Maple Leafs at New York Rangers, Madison Square Garden, Sunday at 7:00 PM

Goalie Matchup: Henrik Lundqvist vs. James Reimer (likely)

Rangers to Watch:

Anthony Duclair (Getty)

Anthony Duclair, because he was the Rangers’ best player against CBJ and notched his first 2 points (assists) of his career. He was also moved to the top line late and may be there again tonight.

Marty St. Louis, because he looks to be getting comfortable at center and he looks like he’s on the verge of a big game.

Kevin Klein, because he’s being asked to do more and seemed to struggle at times against Columbus. He was totally out of position on one goal last night and he needs to be better with Staal.

Eye on the Enemy:

James Reimer, because after Jonathan Bernier wet the bed in his first 2 starts (0-2, 4.54 GAA, .877 save %), he has to be licking his chops to seize the starting job.

Phil Kessel, because he’s too good to be this bad. No points and a -3. Players like this are always dangerous, especially in a game his team is expected to lose.

David Clarkson, because he is the personification of bad moves the Leafs have made. He will have a chip on his shoulder and if the game gets out of hand, he will take runs at the Rangers top players.

FullTilt Forecast:

It’s time for the Rangers to rock the Garden. Make no mistake, the Leafs will not be push-overs and will fight for the full 60 minutes. In the end, the Rangers talent will simply be too much.

Tonight, Henrik Lundqvist will be a wall and special teams will be key. Power play goals will be the difference with the Rangers walking out 4-1 winners.

It could be a special night for Anthony Duclair as we think he gets his 1st NHL goal tonight.
