Rangers really didn’t love playing in the bubble and without fans

In two separate shows, both Ryan Strome and Tony DeAngelo revealed they weren’t crazy about bubble life. It really shouldn’t come as a big surprise, not many NHL players loved it but they did what they had to do.

“There’s nothing positive you’re really going to take from bubble life,” Dallas centre Tyler Seguin said. “It definitely sucked.” Seguin was obviously not alone and more players are admitting it.

Ryan Strome was recently interviewed for MSG AM and discussed a number of topics. One in particular was life in the bubble since there is talks about playing in one again.

“My biggest takeaway was I love having fans in the building,” Strome said about playing in the bubble. “I think that every player will agree there is nothing like having fans in the building. They bring that special vibe, the atmosphere, the boos and the cheers.”

Strome went on to talk about some of the positives about playing in the bubble. He talked about hanging with the guys, playing video games, and cards but he ended it with an unenthusiastic “it was alright”.

Tony DeAngelo against the Bubble on his latest podcast

Tony DeAngelo was a little more outspoken during his latest podcast. The Rangers defenseman discussed the NHL is talking about a bubble for next season and gave his analysis.

“I can do the bubble if you were allowed out in the specific city you are in,” DeAngelo began. “If you’re going to be locked in a hotel like we were in Toronto…guys are gonna be miserable.”

That pretty much sums it up. Now you have to wonder just how much of a negative impact playing in the bubble had on the Rangers in their loss against Carolina.
