The New York Rangers held their second day of practice and scrimmages as they prepare for their first preseason game against the Islanders tomorrow.

Apparently, things got a little physical between Alexis Lafrenière and Ryan Lindgren during scrimmage which was noted by Newsday’s Colin Stephenson. “Lindgren just dropped Lafreniere again, stayed on top of him for a minute, got up slowly and skated to the bench,” he tweeted. “Lafrenière got up, skated over to say something to Lindgren before going to his own bench.”

When asked about this incident, Gerard Gallant playfully answered, “I didn’t see nothing.” The head coach drew laughs with his response and followed up with, “Seriously, I didn’t see nothing. Hopefully they got a little fire. That won’t hurt nothing.”

Here’s today’s schedule:

  • Team 2 & 3 Scrimmage…10:00-11:30 AM
  • Team 1 Goalies on Ice…11:45 AM-12:15 PM
  • Team 1 Practice…12:15-1:45 PM

Adam Fox talks Olympics

Fox finished second overall in scoring for blue-liners with 47 points this past season. His 42 assists were the most by an NHL defenseman and he was seventh for total ice time.

The reigning Norris Trophy winner, was asked about the Olympics and if he had been notified by Team USA to join in Beijing.

“Yes, there’s been some long-list stuff, it was obviously cool to get that and something hopefully to look forward to,” Fox revealed.

It would be difficult not to see Team USA, whom Chris Drury and Assistant GM Ryan Martin have ties too, already have Fox penned into the roster. Furthermore, former head coach David Quinn is an assistant coach on the team and absolutely loves Fox.

“Representing your county is something I’ve always wanted to do,” Fox admitted. “I was fortunate enough to play for the USNTDP team and been to the World Juniors twice. The Olympics is the biggest stage and I think any player wants to represent their country.”

The next big question is this; will Ryan Lindgren be his defense partner?

Ryan Reaves not here for just Tom Wilson

The New York Rangers have been after Ryan Reaves for years and he even admitted that was the case yesterday when asked. “I told my wife one time, I’m probably going to end up in New York at some point,” he said with a smile. “And here we are.”

At 34 years-old, he’s now the oldest member on the team but is a physical specimen. Standing in at 6-2″ and an absolute shredded 225 lbs, Reaves looks like he could play another decade if he so chooses.

Yesterday, he wanted to make something very clear. He is not here to deal with just the Capitals’ Tom Wilson. Reavo, as he’s known by friends and foes alike, is here to hold every opponent accountable.

“I’m not here because of Tom Wilson. I’m here because of what players like Tom Wilson brings to his team, and Cal Clutterbuck and (Matt) Martin bring to their team,” Reaves declared. “It doesn’t matter what the player is, what team it is, whether we’re out east or out west. I’m holding everybody accountable. It doesn’t matter what happened last year. It matters what happens this season and everyone is going to be held accountable when they go up against our team.”
