Rangers Stonewalled By Steve Mason

“Save by Mason!” was heard over and over again in game 4. Claude Giroux owes him a huge steak dinner for bailing his butt out on his guarantee. The Flyers captain is still scoreless in this series, but Steve Mason is not winless.

New York was beaten but they were not dominated. Actually, it was quite the contrary. The Rangers once again controlled play and fired 38 shots to the Flyers 25. But the bottom line is the Blueshirts could not beat Mason.

POWER OUTAGE

The Flyers continue to take penalties against the Rangers and walk away unscathed. Save for game 1, the Rangers power play is pathetic. AV’s Rangers had 4 power plays and came up empty. Highlighted by a 4-3 advantage that they only got 1 long shot from McDonagh on. if NY wants to win this series, they need to score on the man advantage.

LOOKING AHEAD

This Sunday at 12 PM is the most important day for the Rangers this season. In the friendly confines of Madison Square Garden, the Rangers must muster their best effort of the year. The winner of game 5 has won 85% of all playoff series in NHL history. A loss at home, going into game 6 in Flyers country may be too much to overcome. As it stands now, the probability for this series to go 7 is high. It will be up the Alain Vigneault and his staff to get this team ready to play their best hockey to date. Otherwise, a promising season will fade to dust.
