Yandle welcomed to NY with a 4-1 win over NHL’s best (NYR 4 v NSH 1)

Keith Yandle admitted to being nervous before the game started. The support he received from his teammates and the Garden Faithful went a long way into helping him transition to the bright lights of Broadway. When it was all said and done, Yandle was a part of huge win over league leading Nashville.

“I had a little bit of butterflies and I was nervous a little bit just being on a new team, but the crowd did a great job of welcoming me,” Yandle said smiling afterwards. Although he finished the night with a -1 rating, his smooth skating ability and crisp first pass out of the zone were obvious. This is going to work out very nicely for the Rangers.

NY got on the board first when Marc Staal finished some botched passing plays. He put it over Pekka Rinne‘s shoulder and the Rangers were off and running. Chris Kreider would complete a gorgeous Mats Zuccarello feed in front and NY would build their lead to 2 – 0.

The Predators would make it 2-1 after a series of giveaways and miscues by Kevin Klein and the 4th line led to a Matt Cullen goal. It would be the only tally on the night for Nashville.

Dom Moore would get some retribution for the 4th line by scoring early in the third period and giving the Rangers a 3-1 lead. Rick Nash would close out the scoring with a long empty netter.

The win allows the Rangers to hop the Islanders into first place in the Metro with 2 games in hand. Also, with Montreal’s loss the Rangers are only 3 points out of the East lead. Pretty amazing when you think about how average the team looked in November.
